Consistency trumps perfect timing. Advantageous cumulative effects arise daily regardless of the timing. Phone reminders are set for my clients to assist with this routine. Consistent beverage consumption among clients, to prevent UTIs, shows the best results when consumed before breakfast every day, without exception, for a minimum of 12 weeks.
Unique patient groups require special attention. Pregnant women find it helpful to drink during mid-morning to prevent nausea. Older individuals tend to do best with doses divided into smaller portions. Children tolerate diluted juices better immediately after breakfast. Always consult your physician about when to take medications because of drug interaction possibilities.
Adjust the timing of doses based on the body's response. If you are tolerant of morning doses, do nothing; if you are excited or disturbed, try taking your doses 30 minutes after breakfast. Those who suffer from heartburn should avoid taking them at night. One of my clients is experimenting with schedules to find one that suits him.
Keep in mind that timing is an enhancement, but it's not a substitute for the proper amount or selection. Always go with 100% unsweetened juice. Keep to the recommended amount of 8-16 oz for adults. Always combine the suppressing mechanism with adequate water intake to encourage the urinary flushing effect.
