Prof. Benjamin Murphy, Ph.D.Orange oil is an all-purpose natural cleaner around the house. It's an effective degreaser with an antibacterial nature that dissolves hard-to-remove dirt. I've replaced various chemical cleaning agents in my household with solutions of orange oil. This citrus oil does a good job of cleaning many areas safely.
In the case of cooking surfaces, orange oil annihilates grease and germs. For this, it can be made into a paste with baking soda for stovetops. A solution of vinegar is made up for table tops. These disinfectants leave a pleasant odour behind, however. My patrons have stated that their kitchens shine without rancid odors of chemical preparations.

Orange oil is wonderful for pest control naturally. Spray some diluted solution along baseboards to break up ant trails. Wipe window sills to help deter spiders. This technique avoids the use of synthetic pesticides. My clients use these methods seasonally to keep their homes pest-free.
Use orange oil as a natural odor remover. It effectively neutralizes stubborn and offensive odors. Treat trash cans if mold or odors from spoiled foods are present. Apply to refrigerators after cleaning for a pleasant aroma. Orange oil can be used on upholstery to eliminate pet odors. The clean citrus aroma completely replaces unpleasant or rotten odors.
Confirm surface compatibility beforehand. Orange oil solutions can be safely applied to countertops, stainless steel, and wood surfaces, but avoid using orange oil solutions on marble or unsealed stone. Ensure that you test on a concealed area first. I have applied these cleaners for years without incident.
Store homemade cleaners properly for longevity. Use dark glass spray bottles and store them in a cool, dark location, away from direct heat. Don't forget to label the mixtures, including the date. The solutions will remain effective for a period of three months. I regularly rotate out each batch every quarter to ensure maximum effectiveness.
